ADOPTED Rescue Dogs

ADOPTED! ELIM is a 10 year old husky/malamute mix. Her original owner passed away. Elim was very shy when she came to us but has really come a long way! Our volunteer, Cecile, has made Elim her special project and worked so much with her this past summer. Elim is much more confident and relaxed when meeting new people now. She is house trained and a trained sled dog as well. She would be a great companion for hiking and skiing. You can meet Elim at Sirius. Just contact us to set up an appointment.

ADOPTED! Trigger is a 1 year old neutered male Alaskan Husky that is very sweet and loves to play. He was hand shy and nipped on occasion when he came to us. He has learned to be gentle when playing and allows you to reach for him and take his collar now. He still needs training on this as well as recall off lead. We have not had him in harness yet but comes from mushing lines so should a natural.

ADOPTED! Redwing is a 3 year old spayed husky from racing lines. She loves to run but cannot be a regular sled dog because of a medical condition commonly known as a "wheezer" but can still be an active companion dog. Redwing is a bit shy when approached but warms up very quickly. She gets along with most other dogs but can get grumpy with other females and has a very high prey drive so should not be trusted with small animals or children.

ADOPTED! Maz is a 2 year old spayed female husky. She has been a house pet, skijor's and runs in team and while she gets along with and plays with the other dogs, she really wants her own person.

ADOPTED! Rowan came to us inn February 2022, after being a stray for over a year. We don't know much else about her past except that she had a litter of 5 pups while on her own. She was extremely shy but has never been aggressive when handled and is now learning to eat from people's hands. We will continue to work with her to gain her trust and train her. She has great dog social skills and loves playing with all the other dogs.

ADOPTED! LUCKY is a 5 year old neutered male Siberian husky. He loves people is house trained and knows several commands. When he came to us he had been isolated from other dogs for 2 years and had to learn social skills which he has done with great success. We are still working on recall and resource guarding and this training will need to be continued. He was previously a pet and we have not had him in harness.

ADOPTED RESCUE DOGS

ADOPTED! Bonnie was super special case. She came to Sirius totally unsocialized and extremely fearful at about 6 months old. Carolin & Martin from Germany were volunteering with us for a couple of months when Bonnie had first come to us. Carolin had experience working with dogs with these issues and immediately took on the challenge of Bonnie. It went wonderfully if not as planned... They won each others hearts and Bonnie went home to Germany with Carolin and Martin!

Quigley passed in 2020. He came to us after being found wandering in the woods, blind, diabetic and hypothyroid. He was an old man but he had a happy couple of years with us at Sirius.
