Adoption Information
How do I adopt a dog from Sirius?
1) Read the following information and submit the application form.
2) We will contact you, ask you more questions and answer your questions.
3) If it seems to be a good match, we will set up a meet and greet at the dog's location. (Some are fostered with volunteers and some are at Sirius.)
4) If the meet and greet goes well, we will schedule a visit to your home for inspection.
5) If all is well and in agreement, legal adoption forms are signed, adoption fees are paid and your new family member goes home with you!
All of the animals available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, with current vaccines including rabies, de-wormed and microchipped. Any medical as well as behavioral issues have been addressed and are fully disclosed at the time of adoption.
Completing the application is not a commitment to adopt, it is a preliminary to gathering information in order to see if the dog of interest and the components of your home/environment/lifestyle will be a good match for all parties involved.
To be considered as an adopter:
Once the application is received, you will receive an email from one of our volunteers usually within 24 - 48 hours depending on the number of applications submitted for your dog of interest. We make every effort to review applications as quickly as possible and respond in a timely manner; because we are an entirely volunteer run organization, we ask for your patience during this process.
Our rescues animals reside either at our facilities or in the home of our foster volunteers. If your application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled. Although you are required to select a dog for your application, it does not commit you to adopt a certain dog. We understand that not every dog is a fit for every family, if you apply to adopt a particular dog and it is not love at first sight, we can change your application for another rescue animal. There will be no need to complete a new application.
Please keep in mind, not every adoption application will be approved. Every decision is made with our rescue animals’ best interest in mind, in an effort to find the best match between dog and family.
Should you adopt, we will check in with you periodically to affirm that all is well. 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months.
